STUDENT LIFE
A benefit of being on a campus of a Christian research university is sharing in the community of grace that emerges when nearly 1,500 graduate students, 300 faculty and 3,800 undergraduates assemble in one place. Opportunities for fellowship, dialogue and worship are vital parts of the total educational process. At Talbot School of Theology, you will benefit from the life-long friendships you will establish with your fellow students, faculty and staff. From worshipping in Talbot's weekly chapel to participating in the seminary's year-long fellowship groups, you will enjoy multiple opportunities to flesh out your faith and studies.
Chapel
Chapel is an important part of Talbot School of Theology, as it contributes significantly to individual spiritual formation and the unity of the seminary community. Chapel services are conducted each Tuesday, and joint university-wide chapel services are held several times a year. Special chapel series, such as the Lyman Stewart Lectures and the Faculty Series (fall and spring), are also held every year.
Talbot Wives Fellowship
When a married couple comes to seminary, many changes often occur — not only to the student, but the spouse as well. Talbot School of Theology understands the vital importance of ministering to the wives of students and preparing those wives for the service they will have alongside their husbands. Talbot Wives Fellowship is a group designed to meet those needs through prayer groups, biblical learning, socials, and special events.
Student Ministry Service
The seminary recognizes the necessity of active service in Christian work while students are pursuing their courses of study. From the time of enrollment, students are encouraged to engage in some type of approved weekly ministry. The high population density of Southern California creates extensive service opportunities of many types.
Biola Campus
Located on the 96-acre Biola University campus, Talbot School of Theology offers all of the conveniences of a university with the intimacy of a seminary community. The campus, strewn with lush trees, grass, and flowers, provides students with access to the library, university dining halls and cafes, campus housing, the Fitness Center, athletic facilities, and much more.
Family Fellowship
Talbot School of Theology has a deep-rooted commitment to the family, especially the families of its students. A wide-ranging variety of programs, services and events have been developed to foster family participation in the seminary experience. Spouses may attend classes with their mates, at no charge, or take classes at a discounted rate under the Spouse Tuition Reduction Scholarship. Families also have access to Biola University's facilities including the swimming pool, track, and tennis courts. Biola's fitness center is available for family members for a slight fee.
